Ganesha (Gujarat)

This four-armed Ganesha is sitting in Lalithasana posture. A closer look shows, intriguingly, he is not sitting on anything. Just floating in the air.

The attributes are too worn for positive identification. Ganesha is, of course, accompanied by his vahana, a rat. This substantial sized rat is holding something in his front legs.

Ganesha is accompanied by two attendants, who are in Anjali mudra. A Kalasa tops the engraved Prabhavali. The main Vigraha is braced to Prabhavali by studs. The last two features are typical of bronzes from Central India and Gujarat.

This Vigraha is about 8 cm tall, and it is from Gujarat. This may be dated to the eighteenth century.

This blog site has another Ganesha from Gujarat, and it is shown below for comparison.
