Hanuman – A happy face

Hanuman singing

Hanuman, Anjaneya… refer to Lord Rama’s ardent devotee. Here he is seen singing Bhajans, devotional songs, eulogising  Rama.

This image is only 4.2 cm in height, but talks volumes. Happy face and totally engrossed in what he is doing. One of my favourites.

This bronze is from South India, maybe Tamil Nadu. It may date to the 18th century.

Hanuman is often worshipped on his own. He is one of the central characters in the Hindu epic Ramayana. Hanuman is part of folklore and religious practices in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Indonesia as well.
