Sometimes it is the intrigue that leads to the purchase decision. This is one such example.
Here we see a Mother Goddess, four-armed and carrying a child. Even with four arms she is not holding the child. What? The upper arms are holding a short sword/dagger and a shield. The attributes in the lower arms are not discernible.
Well carrying a child and arms at the same time? That is the intriguing part. She has been with me for a few years,I am yet to identify her.
Take time to see the back view and her Jadai, plaited hair arrangement. May be carrying arms and a child, but there is always time for Shringara.
Checked other Mother Goddesses with me and some are four-armed. A few of them are shown below for reference. They are Sasthi, Sakambari and Ambika. There is some similarity between the subject of this blog and Ambika.
I have no clue as to who she is. But possibly Ambika in some form. The vigraha is most likely from Central India and folkish in nature. It is about 8 cm in height.
